The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres declined notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 106%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres dropped notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Sri Lanka (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibre to Mexico, with a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres from Sri Lanka exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Sri Lanka amounted to -1.7%.
In value terms, Sri Lanka ($X) constituted the largest supplier of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres to Mexico, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 24% share of total imports.
