From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Bolivia was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-34.9% per year) and the Dominican Republic (-35.9% per year).

In 2021, purchases abroad of composite paper and paperboard increased by 42% to X tons, rising for the fifth consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports enjoyed measured growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, composite paperboard imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of composite paperboard to Mexico, accounting for a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, composite paperboard imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), more than tenfold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.7% share.

In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 64%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
