In value terms, expansible polystyrene exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates amounted to $X per ton.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of expansible polystyrene in primary forms, when their volume increased by 31% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
