The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 1,180% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Italy (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons) and Guyana (X tons) were the main destinations of dry peas exports from Mexico, with a combined 84% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States and Guatemala, which together accounted for a further 15%.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Guyana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In general, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +31.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, dry peas imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
