Saudi Arabia was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 81% of total exports. Israel (X tons) held a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Bahrain (5.5%). The United Arab Emirates (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Saudi Arabia increased at an average annual rate of +60.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bahrain (+267.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +267.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-5.2%) and Israel (-23.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Saudi Arabia (+80 p.p.) and Bahrain (+5.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Israel (-84.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the largest aluminium hydroxide supplier in the Middle East, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 3.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Saudi Arabia amounted to +56.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Israel (-20.8% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-4.5% per year).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -35.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. At the same time, Jordan (+50.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (+11.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Jordan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +50.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Iran (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium hydroxide in the Middle East, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 3.8% share.

In Turkey, aluminium hydroxide imports expanded at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+11.5% per year) and Jordan (+25.2% per year).
