Turkey (+34 p.p.), Saudi Arabia (+9.9 p.p.) and Israel (+6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates and Oman saw its share reduced by -11.7% and -36% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest reservoirs, tanks, vats and similar containers, of aluminium, capacity exceeding 300l, without mechanical or thermal equipment supplier in the Middle East, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 4.8% share.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Oman ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 83% share of total imports. Iraq, Israel, Lebanon and Yemen lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.

Lebanon, with a CAGR of +16.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 37% against the previous year. Import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per ton), while Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
