Electric Radiator Market Size in MENA

For the third consecutive year, the MENA's electric radiator market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 27% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate buoyant growth. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electric radiator production soared to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production continues to indicate buoyant growth. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in MENA

In 2021, overseas shipments of electric radiators and convection heaters increased by 13% to X units, rising for the fourth year in a row after five years of decline. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electric radiator exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the one major exporters of electric radiators and convection heaters, namely Turkey, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the electric radiators and convection heaters exports, with a CAGR of -3.7% from 2012 to 2021. While the share of Turkey (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) also remains the largest electric radiator supplier in MENA.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey stood at +1.8%.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 17% against the previous year. Export price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Turkey.

From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Turkey amounted to +5.8% per year.

Imports in MENA

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of electric radiators and convection heaters, when their volume decreased by -13% to X units. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electric radiator imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Iraq represented the largest importer of electric radiators and convection heaters in MENA, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was near 37% of total imports in 2021. Saudi Arabia (X units) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Israel (10%) and the United Arab Emirates (9.8%). Turkey (X units), Kuwait (X units), Libya (X units), Morocco (X units), Iran (X units), Algeria (X units) and Tunisia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Iraq experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of electric radiators and convection heaters. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+10.7%), Morocco (+9.3%), Tunisia (+7.9%), Kuwait (+7.7%), Iran (+2.1%) and Israel (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +10.7% from 2012-2021. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Turkey (-9.0%), Algeria (-11.9%) and Libya (-17.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Saudi Arabia (+11 p.p.), Israel (+3 p.p.), Iraq (+2.8 p.p.), Kuwait (+1.9 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+1.8 p.p.) and Morocco (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Algeria (-3.5 p.p.), Turkey (-3.6 p.p.) and Libya (-13.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest electric radiator importing markets in MENA were Iraq ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Israel ($X), together accounting for 56% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Kuwait, Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Iran and Tunisia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

Kuwait, with a CAGR of +12.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, surging by 26% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+9.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
