Diagnostic equipment exports surged to X units in 2021, rising by 27% against 2020 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Israel (X units) represented the largest exporter of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus, mixing up 65% of total exports. Turkey (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units). All these countries together held near 30% share of total exports. Morocco (X units) took a minor share of total exports.
Israel experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus. At the same time, Morocco (+16.6%), Turkey (+14.5%) and the United Arab Emirates (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +16.6% from 2012-2021. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest diagnostic equipment supplier in MENA, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 4.1% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 2.2% share.
In Israel, diagnostic equipment exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+13.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+7.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -2.8% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 8.4%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Morocco ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+16.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
For the third year in a row, MENA recorded growth in supplies from abroad of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus, which increased by 5.9% to X units in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 9.3% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, diagnostic equipment imports declined to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 13%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X units), distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), Iraq (X units), Algeria (X units), Iran (X units), Morocco (X units) and Israel (X units) were the largest importers of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus, together mixing up 75% of total imports. The following importers - Libya (X units), Qatar (X units), Kuwait (X units), Jordan (X units), Oman (X units) and Yemen (X units) - together made up 18% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Iraq (with a CAGR of +15.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest diagnostic equipment importing markets in MENA were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Israel ($X), together accounting for 37% of total imports. These countries were followed by Iran, Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait, Qatar, Morocco, Libya, Jordan, Oman and Yemen, which together accounted for a further 38%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Yemen, with a CAGR of +13.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -11.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 18%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Algeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+8.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
