In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of fork-lift trucks, when their volume decreased by -12.5% to X units. In general, exports, however, showed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 268%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fork-lift truck exports soared to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +45.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 72%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Turkey prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 82% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), making up a 6.7% share of total exports. Morocco (X units) and Kuwait (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kuwait (+26.7%), Morocco (+16.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (+9.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +26.7% from 2012-2022. While the share of Morocco (+2.2 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+1.9 p.p.) and Kuwait (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Turkey (-4.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest fork-lift truck supplier in MENA, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 7.2% share.

In Turkey, fork-lift truck exports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-0.7% per year) and Kuwait (+21.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 378%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per unit), while Morocco ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA

Fork-lift truck imports soared to X units in 2022, rising by 23% compared with 2021 figures. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +32.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 81% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fork-lift truck imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 17%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Turkey (X units), distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), Egypt (X units), Qatar (X units) and Israel (X units) represented the key importers of fork-lift trucks, together creating 78% of total imports. Iraq (X units), Morocco (X units), Algeria (X units), Iran (X units), Tunisia (X units) and Libya (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +11.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In Turkey, fork-lift truck imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+7.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-0.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, falling by -8.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Egypt ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
