In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 383% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded significant growth. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2020 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+192.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of mounted lenses, prisms and mirrors in MENA skyrocketed to X units, growing by 288% compared with 2021. In general, imports showed a significant expansion. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, mounted lens imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 109%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Algeria dominates imports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 87% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Oman (X units), generating an 8.3% share of total imports.

Algeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the mounted lenses, prisms and mirrors imports, with a CAGR of -30.5% from 2012 to 2022. Oman (-68.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Algeria (+86 p.p.) and Oman (+7.3 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
