Non-electric bakery oven exports contracted to X units in 2022, which is down by -10.9% against the previous year's figure. Overall, exports showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 1,131%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-electric bakery oven exports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey prevails in exports structure, accounting for X units, which was approx. 79% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), comprising a 5.8% share of total exports. The following exporters - Lebanon (X units), Egypt (X units), Bahrain (X units) and Iran (X units) - together made up 13% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-electric bakery oven exports from Turkey stood at +2.1%. At the same time, Egypt (+35.3%), Bahrain (+27.3%) and Iran (+8.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +35.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-6.2%) and Lebanon (-22.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+33 p.p.), Egypt (+3.6 p.p.), Bahrain (+2.4 p.p.) and Iran (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-2.1 p.p.) and Lebanon (-32.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest non-electric bakery oven supplier in MENA, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Lebanon ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 3.4% share.
In Turkey, non-electric bakery oven exports increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Lebanon (-3.5% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-10.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a notable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 992% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($X per unit), while Egypt ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+24.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
In 2022, overseas purchases of non-electric bakery ovens were finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-electric bakery oven imports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Algeria (X units), Iraq (X units) and Yemen (X units) represented roughly 44% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), Morocco (X units), Turkey (X units), Tunisia (X units), Qatar (X units) and Libya (X units), together making up a 37% share of total imports. Egypt (X units) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Yemen (with a CAGR of +18.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-electric bakery oven importing markets in MENA were Iraq ($X), Libya ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 37% share of total imports. Algeria, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Qatar and Yemen lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.
Qatar, with a CAGR of +15.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -8.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 25%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Libya ($X per unit), while Yemen ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+14.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
