From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, pre-coated aggregates exports expanded to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 5,717% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 97% of total exports in 2022. Turkey (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pre-coated aggregates exports, with a CAGR of +103.9% from 2012 to 2022. Turkey (-43.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (+75 p.p.) and Turkey (+3.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest pre-coated aggregates supplier in MENA, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 2.3% share of total exports.

In the United Arab Emirates, pre-coated aggregates exports expanded at an average annual rate of +50.7% over the period from 2012-2022.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the export price showed a deep setback. For the sixth year in a row, MENA recorded growth in supplies from abroad of pre-coated aggregates, which increased by 13% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 95%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, pre-coated aggregates imports fell slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 117% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Oman represented the largest importer of pre-coated aggregates in MENA, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 61% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kuwait (X tons), creating a 32% share of total imports. Iraq (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Oman (with a CAGR of +54.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 46%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
