In terms of the main exporting countries, Tunisia, with a CAGR of +31.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 15% against the previous year. Export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for rigid tubes, pipes and hoses, of other polymers increased by +15.1% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the export price increased by 26% against the previous year. Imports into Iraq increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+29.2%), Yemen (+15.1%), Turkey (+12.0%), Morocco (+8.8%), Algeria (+7.9%), Tunisia (+4.9%), Oman (+2.9%) and the United Arab Emirates (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +29.2% from 2012-2022. Saudi Arabia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Libya (-2.1%), Egypt (-3.6%) and Lebanon (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Israel, Iraq, Yemen, Algeria and Turkey increased by +11, +5.8, +3.2, +3.1 and +2.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest rigid tubes, pipes and hoses, of other polymers importing markets in MENA were Iraq ($X), Yemen ($X) and Turkey ($X), together comprising 52% of total imports.
Yemen, with a CAGR of +41.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, falling by -16% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
