Exports from Morocco increased at an average annual rate of +36.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+78.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +78.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Morocco (+86 p.p.) and Israel (+6.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -40.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Morocco ($X) remains the largest tennis and badminton rackets supplier in MENA, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 5.8% share of total exports.
In Morocco, tennis and badminton rackets exports increased at an average annual rate of +40.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+52.7% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-7.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -84% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 348% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+3.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, overseas purchases of tennis, badminton or similar rackets increased by 22% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 132%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, tennis and badminton rackets imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 116% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates prevails in imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 57% of total imports in 2022. Kuwait (X units) took a 9.9% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkey (6.3%) and Iran (6.2%). Qatar (X units), Israel (X units), Bahrain (X units), Iraq (X units) and Morocco (X units) held a minor share of total imports.
Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Qatar (+35.6%), Kuwait (+22.0%), Bahrain (+18.9%), Morocco (+5.8%) and Israel (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +35.6% from 2012-2022. Iraq and Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Iran (-17.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain increased by +27, +8.4, +3.7 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tennis, badminton or similar rackets in MENA, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Qatar, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to +14.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+1.7% per year) and Qatar (+34.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
