Concrete Tile Market Size in MENA

The MENA's concrete tile market contracted to $X in 2022, declining by -2.1% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Concrete Tile Production in MENA

In value terms, concrete tile production reduced modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +5.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 24%. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Concrete Tile Exports

Exports in MENA

In 2022, concrete tile exports in MENA declined to X tons, with a decrease of -5.6% on 2021 figures. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 29%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile exports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 28%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Turkey was the key exporter of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone in MENA, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 48% of total exports in 2022. Israel (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Iran (X tons). All these countries together held near 46% share of total exports. The following exporters - Palestine (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) - each finished at a 3.8% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to concrete tile exports from Turkey stood at +1.3%. At the same time, Iran (+23.2%), Kuwait (+5.4%), Palestine (+4.8%) and Israel (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iran emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +23.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-1.0%) and Saudi Arabia (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey, Iran and Israel increased by +7.3, +5.2 and +3.4 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest concrete tile supplier in MENA, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 27% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 6.2% share.

In Israel, concrete tile exports shrank by an average annual rate of -6.2% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+0.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+2.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, surging by 7.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Concrete Tile Imports

Imports in MENA

In 2022, after four years of decline, there was growth in purchases abroad of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone, when their volume increased by 0.1% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 83% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +15.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 48%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Iraq (X tons) and Israel (X tons) represented roughly 69% of total imports in 2022. Saudi Arabia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 5% share, followed by the United Arab Emirates (5%). The following importers - Bahrain (X tons), Oman (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), Djibouti (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - together made up 14% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +30.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Israel ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone in MENA, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Iraq, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Israel stood at +22.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+6.0% per year) and Iraq (-0.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 3.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, concrete tile import price increased by +70.9% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
