Exports in MENA
In 2021, the amount of wooden furniture of a kind used in offices exported in MENA surged to X units, picking up by 22% against 2020. Total exports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -25.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wooden office furniture exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 25%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X units) represented the main exporter of wooden furniture of a kind used in offices, comprising 56% of total exports. Egypt (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units). All these countries together held approx. 31% share of total exports. The following exporters - Kuwait (X units), Palestine (X units), Morocco (X units) and Jordan (X units) - together made up 9.6% of total exports.
Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of wooden furniture of a kind used in offices. At the same time, Kuwait (+57.4%), Egypt (+22.0%), Morocco (+21.6%), Palestine (+8.6%) and Jordan (+6.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +57.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-2.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Egypt (+18 p.p.), Kuwait (+3.4 p.p.) and Morocco (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-4.9 p.p.) and Turkey (-15 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest wooden office furniture supplier in MENA, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 5.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-2.9% per year) and Egypt (+3.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 40% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per unit), while Egypt ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Palestine (+2.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
Wooden office furniture imports soared to X units in 2021, rising by 24% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 25%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wooden office furniture imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units), distantly followed by Kuwait (X units), Morocco (X units), Israel (X units), Iraq (X units), Qatar (X units), Oman (X units) and Libya (X units) represented the key importers of wooden furniture of a kind used in offices, together committing 87% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wooden office furniture imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at -5.5%. At the same time, Morocco (+11.7%), Israel (+11.3%) and Kuwait (+11.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +11.7% from 2012-2021. Oman and Iraq experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Qatar (-2.2%) and Libya (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with a 9.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Iraq, with a 7% share.
In the United Arab Emirates, wooden office furniture imports shrank by an average annual rate of -2.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kuwait (+7.9% per year) and Iraq (+1.1% per year).
