The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 77% against the previous year. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 28% share of total exports. In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest apple juice supplier in the Middle East, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey stood at -4.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+17.4% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+2.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -19.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 188%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, apple juice imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 199% against the previous year. In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X tons) represented the main importer of apple juice (single strength), mixing up 52% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Israel (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons). All these countries together took near 32% share of total imports. Jordan (X tons), Oman (X tons), Iraq (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Saudi Arabia increased at an average annual rate of +16.1% from 2012 to 2021. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +28.3% from 2012-2021. Jordan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Iraq (-1.7%) and Kuwait (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Saudi Arabia, Israel, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Oman increased by +10, +5.8, +4.4, +3.4 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported apple juice (single strength) in the Middle East, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Bahrain, with a 7.5% share.

In Saudi Arabia, apple juice imports increased at an average annual rate of +15.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+14.4% per year) and Bahrain (+32.1% per year).
