In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the key importer of aromatic alcohols and their derivatives, creating 54% of total imports. Turkey (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 25% share, followed by Bahrain (11%) and Israel (6.1%). Iran (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aromatic alcohols imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at +2.3%. At the same time, Turkey (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +6.8% from 2012-2021. Israel experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Iran (-5.2%) and Bahrain (-14.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 34% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+36.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
