From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, artificial fur exports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 187%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. Syrian Arab Republic dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 87% of total exports in 2022. In value terms, Syrian Arab Republic ($X) remains the largest artificial fur supplier in the Middle East, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Jordan ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with an 11% share.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2022, approx. X tons of artificial fur were imported in the Middle East; shrinking by -39.2% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a precipitous decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 1,042% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, artificial fur imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 298% against the previous year. Yemen represented the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 47% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Turkey (X tons), together making up a 42% share of total imports. The following importers - Bahrain (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Iran (X tons) - together made up 8.2% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Bahrain (with a CAGR of +35.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest artificial fur importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Israel ($X), together comprising 76% of total imports. Yemen, Bahrain, Oman and Iran lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.

Bahrain, with a CAGR of +31.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 51% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 256% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
