Baby Garment Market Size in the Middle East
The Middle Eastern baby garment market shrank markedly to $X in 2022, declining by -15.9% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, saw prominent growth. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, baby garment production amounted to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 44%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in the Middle East
In 2022, approx. X units of babies’ garments and clothing accessories (knitted or crocheted) were exported in the Middle East; which is down by -13.6% against 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 31%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, baby garment exports fell to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +101.8% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Turkey prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was near 95% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), comprising a 4.7% share of total exports.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the babies’ garments and clothing accessories (knitted or crocheted) exports, with a CAGR of +13.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey increased by +26 percentage points.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest baby garment supplier in the Middle East, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 5.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey totaled +9.0%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Turkey stood at $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+5.4%).
Baby Garment Imports
Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, imports of babies’ garments and clothing accessories (knitted or crocheted) in the Middle East reduced notably to X units, dropping by -23.8% against the previous year. Overall, imports recorded a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, baby garment imports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates represented the major importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 37% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Iraq (X units), Israel (X units) and Yemen (X units), together mixing up a 45% share of total imports. Turkey (X units), Oman (X units), Lebanon (X units) and Kuwait (X units) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Yemen (with a CAGR of +21.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest baby garment importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 49% share of total imports. Yemen, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.
Among the main importing countries, Yemen, with a CAGR of +23.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
