In 2021, approx. X tons of cored arc-welding wire were exported in the Middle East; dropping by -8.6% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cored arc-welding wire exports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -13.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 76%. In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the largest exporter of cored arc-welding wire, making up 74% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together mixing up a 22% share of total exports. Israel (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+12.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +12.9% from 2012-2021. In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest cored arc-welding wire supplier in the Middle East, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey amounted to +4.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+5.8% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+7.2% per year).

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 25% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 26%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Qatar (with a CAGR of +11.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 85% share of total imports. In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, growing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
