Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at 68% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), comprising a 17% share of total exports. Israel (X tons), Oman (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Lebanon (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+46.8%) and Oman (+27.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +46.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Lebanon (-1.6%), Turkey (-5.5%) and Saudi Arabia (-11.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+15 p.p.), Israel (+4.2 p.p.) and Oman (+3.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Saudi Arabia (-5.6 p.p.) and Turkey (-14.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 81% share of total exports.
Israel, with a CAGR of +49.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -42.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+4.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, imports of base metal padlocks in the Middle East contracted sharply to X tons, declining by -24.3% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 28%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, base metal padlock imports declined significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Iran (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) represented roughly 84% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Lebanon (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - each finished at a 6% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lebanon (with a CAGR of +2.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Iran ($X) and Iraq ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 59% of total imports.
Iraq, with a CAGR of +7.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -6.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 18%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Yemen ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iraq (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
