For the fourth consecutive year, the Middle Eastern base station market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -27.5% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption saw a abrupt decline. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, base station production declined to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +4.7% against 2017 indices. In 2021, shipments abroad of base stations increased by 6.6% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, base station exports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 137%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) represented roughly 87% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Oman (X tons), mixing up a 7.2% share of total exports. Kuwait (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +58.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest base station supplying countries in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Turkey ($X), together accounting for 92% of total exports. These countries were followed by Oman and Kuwait, which together accounted for a further 6.5%.

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -12.4% against the previous year. Export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, base station export price increased by +3.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 51%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the fourth year in a row, the Middle East recorded decline in purchases abroad of base stations, which decreased by -18.8% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, base station imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the five major importers of base stations, namely Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Oman, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Iran (X tons), generating a 5.6% share of total imports. Israel (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Jordan (with a CAGR of +36.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest base station importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Jordan ($X) and Kuwait ($X), with a combined 53% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Jordan, with a CAGR of +42.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -21.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 48%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
