In 2021, approx. X tons of benzol (benzene), toluol (toluene) and xylol (xylenes) were exported in the Middle East; growing by 8.4% on the year before. Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +14.0% against 2017 indices. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +152.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Oman (+2.2 p.p.) and Iran (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Saudi Arabia (-3.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the largest benzol, toluol and xylol supplier in the Middle East, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 6.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Oman, with a 2% share.

In Saudi Arabia, benzol, toluol and xylol exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+4.6% per year) and Oman (+128.3% per year).
