The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, blood-grouping reagents imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 44%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Saudi Arabia was the largest importer of blood-grouping reagents in the Middle East, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 47% of total imports in 2022. Imports into Saudi Arabia decreased at an average annual rate of -13.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kuwait (+25.7%), Oman (+7.5%), the United Arab Emirates (+6.5%), Israel (+5.9%) and Iran (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +25.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkey (-2.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kuwait (+12 p.p.), Turkey (+9.9 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+4.2 p.p.), Israel (+4 p.p.) and Oman (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -36.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported blood-grouping reagents in the Middle East, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Saudi Arabia totaled -9.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kuwait (+20.3% per year) and Turkey (-6.2% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
