Book And Brochure Market Size in the Middle East
After two years of decline, the Middle Eastern book and brochure market increased by 1.3% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption saw a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the market value increased by 5.5%. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, book and brochure production reduced modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a perceptible setback. Exports in the Middle East
Book and brochure exports expanded rapidly to X units in 2022, increasing by 14% against 2021. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 27%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, book and brochure exports declined modestly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined modestly in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X units), distantly followed by Lebanon (X units), Israel (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) represented the key exporters of books, brochures and similar printed matter, together constituting 92% of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X units) and Iran (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +12.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 83% of total exports.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +11.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -16.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 32% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Lebanon ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, imports of books, brochures and similar printed matter in the Middle East reduced rapidly to X units, waning by -20.2% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 11%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 23%. Imports by Country
In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X units) was the main importer of books, brochures and similar printed matter, achieving 38% of total imports. Turkey (X units) held a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Israel (13%), Bahrain (6.1%), Lebanon (5.6%) and Qatar (5.3%). Oman (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to book and brochure imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at -5.6%. At the same time, Israel (+23.9%) and Qatar (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +23.9% from 2012-2022. Bahrain and Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Oman (-7.0%) and Lebanon (-12.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Turkey, Bahrain and Qatar increased by +13, +12, +9.6, +3.7 and +3.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported books, brochures and similar printed matter in the Middle East, comprising 33% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 12% share.
In the United Arab Emirates, book and brochure imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (-2.6% per year) and Israel (+4.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 24% against the previous year. Import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, book and brochure import price increased by +76.3% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 26% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Qatar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
