The United Arab Emirates was the key importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at 36% of total imports. Turkey (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by Kuwait (11%), Qatar (8.5%), Oman (7.7%) and Iraq (6.9%). Israel (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to breathing appliances imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at +1.8%. At the same time, Iraq (+9.5%), Oman (+8.7%), Turkey (+7.7%), Qatar (+7.0%) and Kuwait (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +9.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Israel (-3.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+6.3 p.p.), Oman (+3.1 p.p.), Iraq (+3.1 p.p.) and Qatar (+2.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Israel and the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -2.7% and -5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest breathing appliances importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Kuwait ($X), with a combined 62% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Turkey, with a CAGR of +13.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, rising by 8.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
