The following exporters - Saudi Arabia (X units), Iran (X units) and Jordan (X units) - each finished at a 5% share of total exports.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Jordan (+27.7%), Israel (+16.7%) and Saudi Arabia (+7.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Jordan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +27.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-2.4%) and Iran (-7.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+12 p.p.) and Israel (+4.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Iran (-3.9 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-10.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest calendering machine supplying countries in the Middle East were Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), together comprising 93% of total exports. These countries were followed by Saudi Arabia, Iran and Jordan, which together accounted for a further 3.7%.

Jordan, with a CAGR of +14.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, rising by 30% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 39% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Jordan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2021, the amount of calendering and rolling machines imported in the Middle East soared to X units, picking up by 70% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 83%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +28.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Israel (-4.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Qatar (+18 p.p.), Turkey (+9.5 p.p.) and Iraq (+3.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Israel saw its share reduced by -21.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported calendering and rolling machines in the Middle East, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 9.7% share.
