The Middle Eastern data storage device market shrank to $X in 2022, reducing by -12.3% against the previous year. In general, consumption recorded a mild descent. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 44%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of data storage devices decreased by -17% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates represented the major importer of data storage devices in the Middle East, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was near 59% of total imports in 2022. Turkey (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Israel (X units). All these countries together took near 34% share of total imports. Qatar (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Qatar (+9.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +9.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkey (-1.3%) and Israel (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates and Qatar increased by +31 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Israel ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 83% share of total imports. Qatar lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 4.4%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Qatar, with a CAGR of +3.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 18%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
