In 2021, overseas shipments of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings increased by 9.7% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, exports, however, faced a significant decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 95%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 87% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main exporter of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings, creating 67% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Israel (X tons), together creating a 29% share of total exports. Palestine (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Saudi Arabia decreased at an average annual rate of -34.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Palestine (+42.1%), Turkey (+21.3%) and Israel (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Palestine emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +42.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-9.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+12 p.p.), Turkey (+10 p.p.), Israel (+5.4 p.p.) and Palestine (+3.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Saudi Arabia (-31.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), Israel ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 84% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates and Palestine, which together accounted for a further 9.9%.
Palestine, with a CAGR of +23.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 5.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the export price increased by 204%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+4.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, the amount of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings imported in the Middle East plummeted to X tons, with a decrease of -34.9% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate a sharp decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 1,136% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings reduced sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 527%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Saudi Arabia was the major importer of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings in the Middle East, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 71% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons), together creating a 19% share of total imports. The following importers - Qatar (X tons), Palestine (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) - together made up 7.9% of total imports.
Imports into Saudi Arabia decreased at an average annual rate of -24.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Israel (+42.8%), Bahrain (+29.6%) and Palestine (+15.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +42.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-14.5%) and Qatar (-46.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Saudi Arabia (+21 p.p.), Israel (+13 p.p.), Bahrain (+6.6 p.p.) and Palestine (+2.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Qatar (-45.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings in the Middle East, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Bahrain, with a 4.1% share.
In Saudi Arabia, imports of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings contracted by an average annual rate of -16.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Israel (+30.3% per year) and Bahrain (+8.9% per year).
