Chicken Table Egg Market Size in the Middle East

After two years of growth, the Middle Eastern chicken table egg market decreased by -32.6% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption showed a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 9.2% against the previous year. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Chicken Table Egg Production in the Middle East

In value terms, chicken table egg production fell rapidly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 11%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

The country with the largest volume of chicken table egg production was Iran (X tons), comprising approx. 43% of total volume. Moreover, chicken table egg production in Iran exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Saudi Arabia (X tons), twofold. Israel (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with an 8.7% share.

In Iran, chicken table egg production shrank by an average annual rate of -1.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (+4.7% per year) and Israel (+2.7% per year).

Exports in the Middle East

In 2022, the amount of chicken table eggs exported in the Middle East contracted remarkably to X tons, with a decrease of -88.1% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 30%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chicken table egg exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a dramatic curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Oman (X tons) represented the major exporters of chicken table eggs in the Middle East, together making up 63% of total exports. Jordan (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons), Iran (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 36% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +32.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Oman ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 78% of total exports. Jordan, Kuwait and Iran lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.

Among the main exporting countries, Jordan, with a CAGR of +42.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Jordan (+38.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2022, imports of chicken table eggs in the Middle East declined modestly to X tons, approximately reflecting 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -0.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 30%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chicken table egg imports fell slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Iraq (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) represented roughly 62% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Qatar (X tons), Syrian Arab Republic (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons), together constituting a 31% share of total imports. Israel (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Qatar (with a CAGR of +122.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Iraq ($X) and Qatar ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 69% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Qatar, with a CAGR of +97.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Syrian Arab Republic (-0.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
