In value terms, chlorides exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 80%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Israel (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) represented the major exporters of chlorides (excluding ammonium chloride) in 2021, reaching near 34% and 29% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), Jordan (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons), together achieving a 31% share of total exports. The following exporters - Kuwait (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - each amounted to a 3.8% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Oman (with a CAGR of +30.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest chlorides supplier in the Middle East, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 9.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Israel was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+10.5% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+8.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed prominent growth. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, chlorides imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X tons) represented the main importer of chlorides (excluding ammonium chloride), generating 35% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Oman (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Turkey (X tons), together comprising a 56% share of total imports. Qatar (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
