In terms of the main exporting countries, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +16.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

The purchases of the twelve major importers of chocolate and confectionery, namely the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Iran, Oman, Lebanon, Yemen, Jordan and Syrian Arab Republic, represented more than two-thirds of total import.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Turkey ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 52% share of total imports. Israel, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, Iran, Jordan, Yemen and Syrian Arab Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.
Kuwait, with a CAGR of +7.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 5.4%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Syrian Arab Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iraq (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
