As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, citric acid imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Turkey (X tons) and Israel (X tons) were the largest importers of citric acid and its salts and esters in 2021, amounting to near 36% and 35% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), mixing up an 11% share of total imports. The following importers - Saudi Arabia (X tons), Iran (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) - together made up 10% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +18.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest citric acid importing markets in the Middle East were Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 82% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Israel, with a CAGR of +16.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
