Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +13.5% from 2012-2022. The United Arab Emirates (+52 p.p.), Turkey (+11 p.p.) and Israel (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -2.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Israel ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 85% of total exports.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +14.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 1,941% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, transport container imports in the Middle East soared to X units, picking up by 49% on 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 130% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Israel (X units), distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), Qatar (X units), Turkey (X units) and Oman (X units) were the key importers of transport containers, together committing 90% of total imports. Iran (X units) and Kuwait (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per unit), while Qatar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
