Totaliser Market Size in the Middle East
After two years of decline, the Middle Eastern totaliser market increased by 21% to $X in 2021. The total consumption indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption decreased by -16.0% against 2018 indices. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

Exports in the Middle East
After two years of growth, overseas shipments of continuous and discontinuous totalisers decreased by -79.2% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 197% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
In value terms, totaliser exports contracted rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports faced a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 95%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates prevails in exports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 90% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), constituting a 7.7% share of total exports.
The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the continuous and discontinuous totalisers exports, with a CAGR of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021. Turkey (-14.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates increased by +26 percentage points.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest totaliser supplier in the Middle East, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey totaled -22.6%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates totaled $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+1.0%).

Imports in the Middle East
Totaliser imports surged to X units in 2021, rising by 33% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, totaliser imports rose slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 56% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates represented the largest importer of continuous and discontinuous totalisers in the Middle East, with the volume of imports recording X units, which was near 40% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), Iran (X units) and Bahrain (X units), together mixing up a 38% share of total imports. The following importers - Israel (X units), Oman (X units), Lebanon (X units), Kuwait (X units), Iraq (X units), Jordan (X units) and Syrian Arab Republic (X units) - together made up 22% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +21.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported continuous and discontinuous totalisers in the Middle East, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 12% share.
In Turkey, totaliser imports decreased by an average annual rate of -5.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+4.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-6.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, falling by -22.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 24%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Syrian Arab Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
