In 2021, the amount of copper screws, bolts and nuts exported in the Middle East was estimated at X tons, increasing by 3.6% compared with the previous year. Total exports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +19.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, copper screw exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the major exporter of copper screws, bolts and nuts, constituting 51% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together comprising a 39% share of total exports. Israel (X tons), Palestine (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Turkey decreased at an average annual rate of -3.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Syrian Arab Republic (+68.9%), Israel (+19.9%), the United Arab Emirates (+6.4%) and Palestine (+6.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Syrian Arab Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +68.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-30.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Syrian Arab Republic (+20 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+6.8 p.p.), Israel (+2.3 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Turkey saw its share reduced by -32.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest copper screw supplier in the Middle East, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 6.6% share.
In Turkey, copper screw exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+3.8% per year) and Israel (+23.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, surging by 28% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Syrian Arab Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+9.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, overseas purchases of copper screws, bolts and nuts increased by 20% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports saw pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 162% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, copper screw imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 36%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the largest importer of copper screws, bolts and nuts, mixing up 59% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), Qatar (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together constituting a 29% share of total imports. Israel (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Saudi Arabia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the copper screws, bolts and nuts imports, with a CAGR of +9.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Oman (+7.8%), Turkey (+6.7%), Iraq (+5.4%) and Israel (+3.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Qatar (-4.1%) and the United Arab Emirates (-10.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Saudi Arabia and Turkey increased by +27 and +4.4 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 12% share.
In Turkey, copper screw imports increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (-6.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-5.5% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
