The Middle Eastern copper tube and pipe market soared to $X in 2021, with an increase of 25% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Turkey was the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which amounted to 54% of total exports. Bahrain (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 22% share, followed by Iran (20%). The following exporters - the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) - each finished at a 3.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to copper tube and pipe exports from Turkey stood at +19.3%. At the same time, Bahrain (+66.8%), Iran (+12.2%) and Saudi Arabia (+11.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +66.8% from 2012-2021. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest copper tube and pipe supplier in the Middle East, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bahrain ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Iran, with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey totaled +19.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahrain (+82.3% per year) and Iran (+12.8% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, rising by 37% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+9.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2021, approx. X tons of copper tubes and pipes were imported in the Middle East; rising by 49% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, copper tube and pipe imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Turkey was the main importer of copper tubes and pipes in the Middle East, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 52% of total imports in 2021. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) took a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Saudi Arabia (12%) and Israel (9.1%). Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the copper tubes and pipes imports, with a CAGR of +12.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kuwait (+5.4%), Israel (+3.6%), Qatar (+3.2%), the United Arab Emirates (+2.2%) and Iraq (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-8.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+29 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -22.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported copper tubes and pipes in the Middle East, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 13% share.

In Turkey, copper tube and pipe imports increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+3.1% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-7.0% per year).
