Crawler Tractor Market Size in the Middle East

In 2021, the Middle Eastern crawler tractor market was finally on the rise to reach $X after four years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of crawler tractors decreased by -21.2% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 113% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crawler tractor exports declined markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 184% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Iran (X units) represented the key exporter of crawler tractors, making up 60% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kuwait (X units), Oman (X units), Turkey (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units), together mixing up a 35% share of total exports. Jordan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to crawler tractor exports from Iran stood at +14.6%. At the same time, Oman (+40.9%), Kuwait (+35.1%) and Turkey (+9.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Iran ($X) remains the largest crawler tractor supplier in the Middle East, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Iran totaled +15.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+55.8% per year) and Kuwait (+28.0% per year).

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -14.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 38% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per unit), while Jordan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Jordan (+9.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X units of crawler tractors were imported in the Middle East; picking up by 29% on 2020 figures. In general, imports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 932%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, crawler tractor imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 76%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
