Crude Groundnut Oil Market Size in the Middle East

The Middle Eastern crude groundnut oil market fell to $X in 2022, which is down by -7.3% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, approx. X tons of crude groundnut oil were exported in the Middle East; which is down by -28.6% compared with the previous year. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 511%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, crude groundnut oil exports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 453%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Iraq dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 97% of total exports in 2022. Israel (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

Iraq was also the fastest-growing in terms of the crude groundnut oil exports, with a CAGR of +82.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+49.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Iraq and Israel increased by +85 and +1.6 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2022, overseas purchases of crude groundnut oil decreased by -55.7% to X tons, falling for the fifth year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 270% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crude groundnut oil imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 423% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
