In 2022, supplies from abroad of marble and travertine decreased by -11.4% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, crude imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, marble and travertine crude imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 39%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Lebanon (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the key importers of marble and travertine in 2022, amounting to near 38% and 26% of total imports, respectively. Oman (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Iran (11%) and the United Arab Emirates (7.3%). Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Iran (with a CAGR of +48.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
