Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes exports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 169%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Saudi Arabia represented the main exporter of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes (excluding cyclohexane) in the Middle East, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 48% of total exports in 2021. Turkey (X tons) took a 28% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the United Arab Emirates (14%) and Israel (9.6%).

In general, imports posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 144%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 127% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Turkey was the largest importer of cyclanes, cyclenes and cycloterpenes (excluding cyclohexane) in the Middle East, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 47% of total imports in 2021.
