The purchases of the four major importers of diesel-electric locomotives, namely Israel, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Israel (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Turkey (X units) and Qatar (X units). All these countries together took approx. 69% share of total imports. Iran (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Turkey (with a CAGR of +16.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
