Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 157% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, off-highway dumper exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X units) and Saudi Arabia (X units) represented the major exporters of dumpers for off-highway use in 2021, amounting to near 40% and 30% of total exports, respectively. Turkey (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Oman (X units). All these countries together held near 21% share of total exports. Kuwait (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +68.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest off-highway dumper supplying countries in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 88% share of total exports.

Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +67.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 26% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 28%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of dumpers for off-highway use increased by 48% to X units in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units) represented the major importer of dumpers for off-highway use, constituting 38% of total imports. Jordan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Iraq (X units), Turkey (X units), Israel (X units) and Kuwait (X units). All these countries together took near 58% share of total imports. Iran (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of dumpers for off-highway use. At the same time, Iraq (+11.3%), Kuwait (+9.5%) and Turkey (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +11.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Jordan (-11.1%), Israel (-12.5%) and Iran (-12.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (+13 p.p.), Iraq (+12 p.p.), Turkey (+6.3 p.p.) and Kuwait (+3.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Iran, Israel and Jordan saw its share reduced by -3.9%, -9.5% and -17.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported dumpers for off-highway use in the Middle East, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 9.3% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, off-highway dumper imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+8.8% per year) and Jordan (-6.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -2.8% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+10.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
