Egg Product Market Size in the Middle East

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Middle Eastern egg product market, when its value decreased by -6.5% to $X. In general, consumption, however, showed a modest increase. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, egg product production declined to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 16% against the previous year. Exports in the Middle East

In 2021, the amount of egg products exported in the Middle East rose slightly to X tons, increasing by 1.6% compared with the previous year. In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 122% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, egg product exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 82% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Kuwait represented the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 37% of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Jordan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 55% share of total exports. Israel (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to egg product exports from Kuwait stood at +41.0%. At the same time, Lebanon (+63.0%), Turkey (+44.1%) and Jordan (+19.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lebanon emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +63.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-9.9%), Israel (-16.8%) and Saudi Arabia (-26.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kuwait (+36 p.p.), Turkey (+11 p.p.), Lebanon (+6.4 p.p.), Jordan (+4.9 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (+3.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Israel and Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -2.4% and -63% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Kuwait ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 70% share of total exports.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +45.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East

Egg product imports rose sharply to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 9.2% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 9.9% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, egg product imports stood at $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 9.6%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), distantly followed by Oman (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) represented the main importers of egg products, together constituting 89% of total imports. Lebanon (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Lebanon (with a CAGR of +7.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest egg product importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Oman ($X), with a combined 67% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon and Bahrain, which together accounted for a further 23%.

Among the main importing countries, Lebanon, with a CAGR of +13.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, flattening at the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 41%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($X per ton), while Qatar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
