Power Tool Market Size in the Middle East

In 2021, the Middle Eastern power tool market increased by 19% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, power tool production reduced modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -30.5% against 2017 indices. Exports in the Middle East

In 2021, shipments abroad of power tools was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 118% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, power tool exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 228% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates was the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which accounted for 87% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), making up an 11% share of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of power tools. Turkey (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates increased by +4.5 percentage points.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest power tool supplier in the Middle East, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 9.5% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, falling by -9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Turkey amounted to $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+1.4%).

Imports in the Middle East

In 2021, supplies from abroad of power tools increased by 34% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after five years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, power tool imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Turkey represented the major importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 50% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Iran (X units) and Israel (X units). All these countries together held near 41% share of total imports. The following importers - Qatar (X units), Kuwait (X units) and Bahrain (X units) - together made up 6.1% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to power tool imports into Turkey stood at +5.2%. At the same time, Bahrain (+12.6%), Israel (+8.7%), Iran (+2.9%) and Kuwait (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +12.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-3.9%) and Qatar (-9.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+11 p.p.) and Israel (+4.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Qatar (-5.8 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-11.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest power tool importing markets in the Middle East were Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Israel ($X), together comprising 73% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Israel, with a CAGR of +10.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 12% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Qatar (+15.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
