Overall, exports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 180% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, meat and fish extracts exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 114%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Turkey dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 79% of total exports in 2021. Jordan (X tons) took a 9.2% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Israel (6.1%). Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to meat and fish extracts exports from Turkey stood at +8.8%. At the same time, Jordan (+126.0%), Saudi Arabia (+12.3%) and Bahrain (+8.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Jordan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +126.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Israel (-9.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 24% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In general, imports, however, showed a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 103%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the largest importer of extracts and juices of meat, fish, crustaceans and molluscs in the Middle East, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was near 43% of total imports in 2021. Qatar (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kuwait (X tons), Jordan (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons). All these countries together held near 51% share of total imports. Turkey (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
