Feldspar Market Size in the Middle East

The Middle Eastern feldspar market fell markedly to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -25.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a noticeable decrease. Turkey (X tons) represented roughly 99% of total exports in 2021.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the feldspar exports, with a CAGR of +13.4% from 2012 to 2021. Turkey (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, feldspar imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 75% of total imports in 2021. Turkey (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Israel (X tons). All these countries together took near 18% share of total imports. The following importers - Kuwait (X tons), Iran (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.7% share of total imports.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Israel (+8.4%), Kuwait (+6.3%) and Turkey (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +8.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Oman (-2.4%) and Iran (-13.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates, Israel and Turkey increased by +13, +4.3 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported feldspar in the Middle East, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at +3.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+4.0% per year) and Israel (+4.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 7.4% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 36%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
