In value terms, fiberboard exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

The biggest shipments were from Turkey (X cubic meters), together reaching 99% of total export.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials exports, with a CAGR of +12.5% from 2012 to 2022. Turkey (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) also remains the largest fiberboard supplier in the Middle East.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Turkey.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Turkey amounted to -1.3% per year.

Imports in the Middle East
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials decreased by -1.1% to X cubic meters in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X cubic meters. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fiberboard imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Saudi Arabia (X cubic meters), distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters), Iraq (X cubic meters), Iran (X cubic meters), Turkey (X cubic meters), Syrian Arab Republic (X cubic meters) and Israel (X cubic meters) represented the major importers of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials, together mixing up 84% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Iraq (with a CAGR of +12.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Israel ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 54% share of total imports. Iraq, Turkey, Iran and Syrian Arab Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Iraq, with a CAGR of +6.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 16%. The level of import peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per cubic meter), while Syrian Arab Republic ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+3.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
