In 2021, the Middle Eastern fire-fighting vehicle market increased by 4.3% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after five years of decline. Overall, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fire-fighting vehicle production amounted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the production volume increased by 191%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, shipments abroad of fire-fighting vehicles decreased by -10.4% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Total exports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +78.4% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 60%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, fire-fighting vehicle exports dropped significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a moderate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 50%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

Turkey represented the largest exporter of fire-fighting vehicles in the Middle East, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 72% of total exports in 2021. The United Arab Emirates (X units) took a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Oman (7.2%).

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Oman (+35.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +35.1% from 2012-2021. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Oman (+6.6 p.p.) and Turkey (+3.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -5.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest fire-fighting vehicle supplier in the Middle East, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 23% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey amounted to +5.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+2.8% per year) and Oman (+54.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -11.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+14.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2021, overseas purchases of fire-fighting vehicles increased by 12% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fire-fighting vehicle imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 58%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of fire-fighting vehicle imports in 2021 were Kuwait (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Saudi Arabia (X units), together recording 71% of total import. Israel (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Iraq (X units). All these countries together held near 9.4% share of total imports. The following importers - Lebanon (X units) and Turkey (X units) - each resulted at a 7.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Lebanon (with a CAGR of +91.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest fire-fighting vehicle importing markets in the Middle East were Saudi Arabia ($X), Kuwait ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), together comprising 80% of total imports. These countries were followed by Israel, Turkey, Iraq and Lebanon, which together accounted for a further 11%.

Lebanon, with a CAGR of +52.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -6.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 23% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
